Festival Wedding Venue: 5 things I LOVED about this real wedding on our farm

Elspeth & James’ late-summer festival wedding in our barn, yurt and garden was absolutely glorious.

And here are 5 (well.  actually 6) things I absolutely loved about it as the wedding venue owner.

Some weddings just sparkle from the moment the first guest arrives — and Elspeth & James’ late-summer celebration was one of those days. It was full of colour, laughter, a few joyful chaos-moments (the best kind!), and that relaxed, festival-style magic our couples always bring to the farm.

Here are the six stand-out things that made their wedding one I’ll be smiling about for a long time…

1️ The sheer joy of the whole day

From the second they arrived, these two set the tone. Their brilliant “FINALLY” sign had everyone laughing before the ceremony had even begun — a little nod to just how long they’ve been together before tying the knot 😂 Their outdoor ceremony in the log-walled garden was everything late-summer should be: bright, breezy and beautiful.

Those colourful chair ties and the vibrant faux florals from @theweddinghouse_droitwich danced in the wind and made the whole space feel alive. It was one of those moments where you can physically feel the happiness in the air. 💖

2️ The photobooth in the yurt

A yurt photobooth should honestly be a compulsory wedding feature at this point. It was such a hit — guests were popping in and out all day, giggling, striking questionable poses, and creating the funniest keepsakes. There’s something about a photobooth that lowers everyone’s guard, and it brought so much fun into the flow of the day. Total vibe.

3️ Those flowers. WOW.

I’m unapologetically obsessed with a milk churn overflowing with colour — and Bride and Bloom (who lives just across the road from us!) absolutely nailed the brief.

Bright, bold, joyful and completely “them,” the florals tied the whole day together. Against the natural backdrop of the farm, those pops of colour looked unreal. Honestly, I could’ve stared at them all day.And the addition of the disco balls in the decor? Absolutely loved it!

4️ James wearing trainers

There’s something incredibly refreshing about a groom who says, “Nope, not doing blister-central on my wedding day.”

James rocked his favourite trainers down the aisle and looked so relaxed and happy because of it. Weddings should feel like you, and this was the perfect reminder that comfort is absolutely allowed — encouraged, even.

5️ Their cuddle with Olaf the pygmy goat

Ah, Olaf. Our unofficial wedding crasher and full-time scene-stealer.

He wandered over, worked his charm (as always), and before long the three of them were having the sweetest cuddle. It genuinely melted everyone around — and yes, he posed like a pro. 🐐💛

6️ And finally… these photos

@pixiejaynephotography captured everything: the colour, the movement, the belly laughs, the blink-and-you-miss-it moments, and the pure joy of a day that felt so authentically them.

I already know these are the kind of photos Elspeth & James will look back on for years with the biggest smiles.
