3 Ways to include children in your wedding day
Whilst we often hear about child-free weddings, those who are fans of big family affairs will be looking at ways to best accommodate and entertain kids on their big day.
We’ve compiled a list of ways to make sure the youngsters in your circle have as much of a blast as the adults!
Entertainment
It’s a good idea to make sure there’s something for kids to do at your wedding to curb any boredom during the reception. This could be as simple as adding child-friendly music to your playlist. Lots of couples opt to get in some activities too, whether it’s colouring, board games or entertainers.
Outdoor receptions are always a great idea for kids as it gives them plenty of room to run about and let off some steam. At Bennetts Willow Barn, there’s plenty of space for children to explore nature and our outdoor space- we even have a selection of outdoor games, like giant jenga and ring toss, which the adults can get involved in too.
Food
There are plenty of ways to alter your menu to make sure even the picky eaters are leaving with a full tummy. Try and liaise with your caterers to provide some kid friendly options, or just simpler versions of what you’re already serving. This could include mini sliders, pizza slices, chicken tenders, as well as a selection of fruit and veg.
A more laid back option is hiring in a food truck- this way, all your guests are able to order what they want on the night and aren’t restricted to sitting at certain tables.

Rest
With big bursts of energy comes big bouts of sleepiness. Make sure to prepare quieter areas within your venue for children to rest comfortably when the adults are partying into the night. This could be a separate room with comfy seating or a designated area with blankets and pillows.
It’s a good idea to book a venue with accommodation beforehand so your guests aren’t having to worry about travelling at the end of the night.
