Buck the wedding trends at your festival wedding inspired by colour!

One of the best things about festival weddings is their use of colour. We love that so many of our wedding couples love to buck traditional wedding trends in their choice of styling. So inspired by them, we wanted to go wild at our recent wedding open day and really go for something different! These days, so much wedding styling is in the form of fairly muted green and whites, but teaming up with one of our fabulous recommended suppliers, The Wedding House, we came up with this amazingly colourful banquet style set up in our barn.

For our February open day, we wanted to show off how fabulous our barn looks when set up for a wedding feast. Although most of our summer weddings choose to make use of the yurt marquee for the place for guests to sit when eating lunch or dinner, our barn is sometimes used in spring or autumn weddings if the weather is unseasonably chilly – our couples love that we can offer this ‘plan b’. And our barn is also the centrepiece of our winter wedding offering.

Our owner, Stef, had been inspired by a set up she saw at another wedding venue that used blue tablecloths. So the brief to Kate at The Wedding House was to go for very bold blue tablecloths and splash colour everywhere. Kate knows that Stef loves sunflowers, so she started the florals off from there and worked in some fabulously bright gerberas as well. And Kate far Stef’s exceeded expectations: there was a big “wow!” when Stef walked into the barn and saw the setup before the open day started!

Choosing colour to stand out at your festival wedding
Because a lot of our couples opt for the “rustic” theme when choosing how to style inside our barn, which is only natural given that we are on a working farm and in a beautiful rustic barn, we rarely have any tablecloths at all – most couples choose to go for the bare table look, which always looks great. But colourful tablecloths has never been done before and we think it definitely shows you can stamp some personality on your wedding styling with just one choice that is a little different to what other people choose to do. If you are wanting a big, bold, colourful wedding, then tablecloths may be the ones for you!

Just take a look at these images showing how beautiful use of colour can be at a wedding. We must say a huge thank you to Hayley of Hayley Morris Photography for capturing all the images featured in this blog, and for allowing us to share them with you. Hayley has done such a wonderful job of capturing the colour in this styling on what was actually a fairly dreary early February day outside!

A big thank you also to Charlotte of Farmhouse Cakes who kindly brought in a tiered wedding cake to help set the scene some more for our open day couples.
